Off Season Art Gardening is a 32-month project (2018-2021) with the main purpose of joining artists in the fields of land art, landscape architecture and garden design with audiences in peripheral urban and rural communities, to develop cross cultural competence and implement large scale site-specific land art installations in open public space in the Netherlands, Lithuania and Sweden. Artists from the three European countries will meet during Artists in Residences during the project. The public is also invited to join inpiring educational activities like workshops and lectures.

Besides the residences there will be exchanges between the project organisations where meetings with local representatives from the cultural sector will take place. The purpose is to share knowledge about the area premises and the partners will gain insight about different ways to organize local resources into a sustainable framework. Valuable experiences for taking care of creative resources and to meet social and environmental challenges in rural areas.

The Off Season Art Gardening project is done with fundings from EU Creative Europe, Mariestad Municipality and the University of Skövde, Sweden, the organization Sense of Place in the Netherlands and Ukmerge Municipality in Lithuania.
